Program Description and Grade Suitability

RSI Seasons

Students learn what controls the seasons by changing the Earth's tilt and orbit shape, then watching what happens to changes in temperature, solar energy, hours of daylight, and Sun elevation.  Suitable for grades 5 through college.

RSI Winds

Provides an interactive map on which students can position high and low pressure centers, then see what happens to the pressure patterns and winds.  Topics include pressure force, Coriolis force, friction force, and aloft winds.  Suitable for grades 5 through college.

RSI Clouds

The temperature and relative humidity of surface air can be changed to produce clouds of different sizes. Illustrates different aspects of growing cumulus clouds.  Suitable for grades 5 through college, although better in late middle school and up.

RSI Cyclones

Explores cyclones, their life cycles and the weather they cause. Students can change the the path of the cyclone and make it stronger or weaker. Forecasts can be made for specific locations and then scored.  Suitable for grades 5 through college.

RSI New Moon

Provides animated, interactive 3D displays of the Moon, Earth and Sun to help students understand the Moon's phases. Solar System displays, eclipses in 3D, and printable charts, too.  Suitable for grades 5 through college, although some use in earlier grades is possible.
