Version 1
Affects: All Windows versions purchased after March, 2004.
Symptom: The Installshield installer will show a window saying that it needs "the next disk" that contains the file "layout.bin."
Follow this link to the fix in installation support.
Affects: All Windows versions running on systems using Vision software from MasterSolution
Symptoms: Varied.  Usually results in odd video behavior on at least the instructor's PC, including incorrect colors and extremely slow screen painting/clearing
Problem: A default setting in Vision disables DirectDraw, a part of DirectX used in our programs.
Fix: You must obtain the lastest upgrade of Vision and change the Vision setting to enable DirectDraw use.  To do this, follow these steps provided to one of our customers by Vision: On the Master, right-click on the desktop Vision icon and select Properties.  On User, go to C:\Program Files\MasterSolution\Vision\MeUConf.exe.  Click the Advanced button, then the screen capture tab, Advanced Settings button, and then the Advanced tab.  On this tab uncheck the Disable DirectDraw box.
Affects: All versions running on Windows 2000/XP
Symptom: Attempting to print causes the program to shut down without printing.
Problem: Program bug
Fix: Contact RSI Support for an upgrade that fixes this problem.
Affects: All versions running on Windows 98
Symptom: The splash screen is displayed at start-up, but when it disappears the program is not displayed.
Problem: Incompatibility with qqtask.exe
Fix: Disable qqtask.exe
Explanation: The program qqtask.exe is a QuickTime program that allows QuickTime to be launched quickly from the Windows tray. We have had reports that qqtask prevents our programs from starting correctly, so we advise you to disable qqtask if this problem occurs.

To see if qqtask is active, press the Control-Alt-Delete key combination and examine the list of tasks that are running. If it is, end the task and try running our program again.
Affects: All versions running on Windows
Symptom: Slow program startup; slow movement between some screens
Problem: Video adapter performance
Fix: Upgrade to newest version
Explanation: This problem affects mainly newer PCs with video adapters that don't support fast palette operations.
Affects: Versions 1.1b and 1.1c running on Windows 95/98
Symptom: The installation program will not install any program except the Administrator
Problem: Installer bug
Fix:
Either copy the CD's contents to a folder on your hard disk and run SETUP.EXE from there, or upgrade to the newest version
Affects: All Windows versions
Symptom: Any of a number of video problems such as black screens, hashed displays, oddly-colored buttons or screen areas, extremely slow operation
Problem: Out-of-date video drivers that aren't DirectX-compliant
Fix:
Upgrade the video drivers. This should be performed by your tech staff or by obtaining new drivers from the appropriate manufacturers.
Affects: Versions 1.1998.x.x running on Windows 95
Symptom: The installation program rushes through a series of screens
Problem: Windows 95 bug
Fix:
Install directly from the folders on your CD-ROM (contact RSI Support for instructions) or upgrade to the latest version
Affects: Older laptop computers
Symptom: The splash screen may display but the program doesn't appear, or you may see only the upper left portion of the program
Problem: Non-compliant video adapters
Fix:
Display the program using an external monitor
Affects: All versions prior to 1.1d running on Windows NT/2000/XP
Symptom: The program fails to display properly, showing missing buttons, black areas or other video problems
Problem: These versions failed to detect the operating system
Fix:
Change a program setting using the program's Configuration Manager (see the Teacher's Guide). Change the Advanced Settings / DirectX Hardware Emulation setting to "Perform Emulation as needed."
Affects: All versions prior to 1.1d running on Windows NT/2000/XP
Symptom: The program indicates that it is an illegal copy and shuts down. It may also shut down after showing the normal splash screen.
Problem: Program design flaw
Fix:
Upgrade to the most recent version
Explanation: These versions of Windows support users with limited access to the Registry. The program assumes they have full access and fails if they do not. In the second case, the user may not have write permission for the program's folder, causing the program to fail
Affects: All versions prior to 1.1f running on Windows NT/2000/XP
Symptom: Clicking on two specific explanation screen buttons causes the program to shut down
Problem: Program bug
Fix:
Upgrade to the most recent version
Explanation: When these buttons are pressed it causes the creation of a temporary file. If the user doesn't have write permission for the application folder, the program fails
